We are thrilled to partner with beloved Finnish design house Marimekko to launch Pre-loved, a marketplace for second-hand and vintage goods. Marimekko approached Archive with a desire to launch a unique approach to resale that highlights the global adoration for the brand’s vintage pieces. The program expands on Marimekko’s enduring focus on creating timeless designs that retain quality and value over the course of generations.
Archive’s team designed and developed a custom resale platform that felt truly authentic to the brand and that delivered a best-in-class user experience for both buyers and sellers. The Pre-loved platform enables both individual brand enthusiasts as well as independent retailers to sell their second-hand and vintage Marimekko pieces in one concise marketplace. To support the nuanced resale model, Archive built a custom listing flow that allows sellers to seamlessly list items from decades past where product data may not be available.
The launch follows a highly successful pilot program last fall, during which the brand listed 60 unique vintage pieces on their site and sold out in 12 minutes. To celebrate the launch of Pre-loved, the brand will release a special selection of vintage dresses from the 60s to the noughties from their archives to be sold on the new platform alongside pre-owned gems from collectors and retailers. Sellers can choose to redeem their earnings in the form of cash or a store credit to be used on marrimeko.com.
For launch, Pre-loved will only be available in the brand’s home market of Finland, but there are plans to expand into new markets and product categories in the near future. The flexibility of Archive’s technology and operations allows us to partner with Marimekko with a long-term outlook, evolving the program to achieve the brand’s goals and vision.
